Much Ado About
Nothing
Written by William
Shakespeare
Directed by Christin Goff
Saturday, May
4th
Little Theatre
12:00-5:00pm
- All theatre majors should sign up for an audition slot in the MTD Office. Please take the earliest slot you are available for! Please do not leave large gaps between people if you don’t need to!
- If you want to be on the “do not cast list” for the show, please email Nicki at nfrechette@ric.edu no later May 1st.
- If you are a double major in Musical Theatre & Dance, please talk to Gel before the May 1st deadline! Thank you. Show dates are in conflict with the first October dance show.
- Students should prepare 12 or so lines from two *contrasting* Shakespeare monologues. They can be from Much Ado or any of the lighter comedies by Shakespeare. The contrast can be young/old, comedy/straight, high/low brow, etc. (Be creative, try to have fun!)
- Auditioning students should keep these ideas in mind overall:
- Learn lines letter perfect—
- Breathe fully into lines, be loud and clear—
- Think "high stakes" for each character—
- Speak to unburden" rather than simply "perform" pieces.
- Please memorize your audition, but feel free to bring a copy of the text with you.
- The Call-back list for Much Ado About Nothing will be
posted on the Theatre callboard by 9pm that same evening. (www.riccallboard.blogspot.com)
- Rehearsals begin August 25th (the day before classes begin) and will run Sunday-Thursday nights from 7-10pm and Fridays from 4-7pm.
Callbacks will be Sunday, May 5th at 7pm in the Little Theatre
and will consist of readings from the script.
