This historic production was first presented in 2007 in Pawtucket, RI along with an art exhibit of Moby Dick inspired art and a symposium featuring Melville scholars from across the county.

Ricardo Pitts-Wiley's adaptation tells the traditional story of Captain Ahab and his quest to take revenge on a white whale that had severed off one of his legs. The events on that take place on the upper deck are juxtaposed against that of a modern crew, on the lower deck who make a subway train train their ship as they journey into the heart of the city, perhaps the heart of darkness, to destroy a drug lord who has killed their leader, a young woman named Alba, little brother..

The same great Melville story, in different times.

Actors will play multiple roles.

Please bring a resume and a recent photo and be prepared to present a maximum 2-minute classic monologue or sonnet, as well as a short modern piece. Poetry, Hip-Hop or spoken word welcome.
