Looking for Theatre Students to Interview

Hello, Theatre students!

Matthew Eisemann is a Media Communications major who is doing an honors project that involves assessing how performing artists had to adjust their practices and training during the pandemic.

He is going to be interviewing me, as well as filming a couple of classes.

He would love to interview a couple of theatre students about their experiences this past academic year -- what it was like to take class and, if you were in a production, to rehearse and perform.

You can email him at meisemann_1219@email.ric.edu.

Thanks!

Casey SK

Michelle Cruz Class on August Wilson at TRC

Hello all --

Last week's Theatre Org Guest, Michelle Cruz, sent me an email saying how much she loved talking with everyone. She also sent a link about the class that she is going to be leading through Trinity Rep Company on the August Wilson Century Cycle.

Also called the Pittsburgh Cycle, August Wilson's Century Cycle is 10 plays that take place in each decade over a century, for the most part, in Pittsburgh. (The plays include Gem of the Ocean, Jitney, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Fences, The Piano Lesson, etc.)

For more information, here is the link:

 https://www.trinityrep.com/education/adult-classes/

She also says that TRC is holding space for BIPOC students who are interested and may possibly need a scholarship. She will also most likely do the class again next fall.

If you're interested, check it out!

Summer Opportunity

Playhouse Theatre Group, Inc. is excited to announce the inaugural productions of the Connecticut Shakespeare Festival! Into the Woods and A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be staged outdoors at Auerfarm State Park in Bloomfield, Connecticut.

We invite college students and recent graduates to apply for our professional summer internship program!

This is a great opportunity for emerging theatre professionals to get experience working on professional productions as ensemble members in a nurturing and collaborative environment. Interns will have the opportunity to actually create theatre, acting in productions, working alongside designers and technicians, and assisting with all aspects of producing a summer Shakespeare festival.

Internships available in the following disciplines: Performance, Business Administration, Company Management, Marketing, Development/Fundraising, Literary, Education, General Production, Stage Management, and Costume.

Dates of the 10 - week full time internship are June 14-August 22, 2021.

Summer interns are given a stipend of $150/week to cover lunch and transportation costs associated with internship.

We will accept applications and supplemental materials by way of email - send to Mhinton@playhousetheatregroup.org. Check out the attached docs for the full breakdown and application.

Best,
