For all interested students -
Chris Soley, one of this year's Alumni Award Winners, will be coming to campus to talk about his career and experiences after graduating RIC.
After graduation, Chris used the leadership skills he honed at Rhode Island College supervising his fellow students in the scene shop to become the Assistant Technical Director at Adelphi University and he has continued to grow and succeed in his career since then. After several steady jobs, he successfully navigated the competitive freelance job market in New York City for two years before becoming a Technical Designer at the Scenic Route in 2012. In this position, he used his drafting skills to prototype various electrical and pneumatic special effects and took on another supervisory role in their build shop. One of these special effects was featured on NBC’s The Voice! Chris then went on to work for Disney in China as a Project Manager and Installation Supervisor at the Shanghai Resort. While in China, Chris ran into another former student of the program who was also working in the field there! After returning to the states, Chris became the Technical Director at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts and served in that position from May of 2016 until recently. He just began a new job with Walt Disney Imagineering.
Join us Thursday, May 3rd at 2:00pm up in the Tech Classroom to hear more!
