"The Yellow Boat" Audition Sides
Hello everyone!
This is a reminder to please sign up for The Yellow Boat auditions. They are happening NEXT FRIDAY September 19th, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Callbacks are the following day from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
There have been many questions about this, so I wanted to clarify that unless you are specifying that you would like to be on the DO NOT CAST List prior to auditioning, you will be considered for both the Slot 2 and Growing Stage, but you cannot and will not be cast in both, we will make sure that doesn't happen. So don't stress about it, just try your best in both auditions!
As promised, here are the sides. Please prepare one monologue, but be familiar with all of them, as you may be asked to read for a different character. These do not need to be memorized.
If you haven't already, make sure to pick a slot, and fill out this form.
Once again, Growing Stage auditions are mandatory for ALL Performance, General, and Musical Theatre Majors!
If you have any questions, please reach out to swright_3934@email.ric.edu or mvillajaramil_1924@email.ric.edu

Opportunity
I’m Raelyn, CCRI’s Training and Program Coordinator for the Title IX Department.
We’re looking for volunteers to participate in a Title IX Role-Playing Training for our Title IX Deputies at CCRI. You'll receive a character breakdown and prompts, then help deputies practice responding to real-world situations through role-play. No memorization needed—just bring your improv skills and a willingness to engage. This is a great way to gain experience while contributing to an important campus initiative.
We are hoping to get 5-10 students for this project. The session is scheduled for. We would most likely want to do a pre session meeting prior to hand out the scenario and discuss roles and the content. If interested—please email rcouto6@ccri.edu

Cast List for Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood
A huge thank you to all who auditioned for Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood!
Our guest director, Gia Yarn, was very impressed with the deep pool of talent that she saw last weekend -- it has taken her a while to narrow her choices down to a cast for the fall production. (Please note that she has created 4 non-speaking roles for guards that are also understudy assignments.)
If your name is on the cast list, please email Casey Seymour Kim by MONDAY 5/12/25 at casey.seymourkim@gmail.com or jwalrad1@ric.edu to confirm that you accept the role(s).
Here is Gia's cast:

Here are the audition sides as well as the callback sides and full script. Please prepare one of the provided audition monologues of your choice. If you receive a callback, you will be asked to read as one or more characters. I will also print out the audition and callback sides if you prefer a hard copy.

Internship Opportunity
I wanted to make sure you and your students know about a paid summer internship program available with the City of Providence called the Summer Mayoral Fellowship. For the last two summers that I’ve been here ACT has been assigned a summer fellow – and they were awesome, but they were also from Brown and RISD. My suspicion is that many of our students from some of the public schools (or just not Brown/RISD) don’t know that this opportunity is out there.
While of course I hope your students select ACT as their number one, every city dept can have a summer fellow and there are a lot of interesting avenues in city government a young person could follow. You have to be an enrolled undergrad, but other than that it’s very open.
Please share the application widely to your student and faculty networks. The applications close May 10.
All the best,
Rebecca Noon

Fall Production Auditions: Friday 5/2/25
Hello all --
The theatre program is excited to announce that the first production of Fall 2025 will be:
Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood by Adam Szymkowicz, directed by Gia Yarn, of Trinity Repertory Company.
Auditions for this show will be held in two weeks:
Friday, 5/2/25 from 1-4pm in the BABS.
Callbacks are currently scheduled for the following Saturday evening, 5/3/25 from 6-9pm, again in the BABS.
Gia Yarn will be submitting sides for the audition, so you do not need to prepare your own monologue.
The sides, audition application link, sign-up sheet, and more details about the play will be posted on the Callboard next Friday.
In the meantime, have a great weekend!
Quick Note about THTR 091 Appointments: Some of you may have a THTR 091 appointment with Bill Wilson and myself that afternoon. We will post the new location of these meetings once we've determined the best place (probably either in Bill's office or upstairs in the MTD conference room.)
When the sign-up sheet for the auditions is posted, be sure to choose a time that doesn't conflict with your 091 appointment.
Lastly -- Bill and I understand that 091 appointments and audition processes can fall behind, so we will do our best to work around your audition slot.
