Paid Campus Gig: Film Production Class

Hello actor-types!

Film Studies students need a couple of actors to help out with a project that films in a couple of weeks. (There is a small $tipend!)

See the letter from Film Studies Professor Rosalind Sibielski:

My intro to film production class (FILM 218) is filming a scene to learn the basics of working on a film set. It is a 2 ½ page scene that we are filming over two classes, Monday 4/7 and Wednesday 4/9 from 2 - 3:50 p.m. Filming is taking place in the English Dept. office suite in Craig-Lee.

I am looking for two actors to play the roles of the two characters in the scene. I can pay a $75 honorarium to both actors. They do need to be available for both days from 2-3:50 and they need to be off book for the shoot.

If anyone is available and interested in helping out, they can email me at rsibielski@ric.edu to confirm participation and get the script.

Thanks!

Job Opportunities

 Hi!

I am the Staffing Coordinator for Point O’Pines Camp for Girls, a premier overnight summer camp in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York! I am looking to hire college theatre students to be a part of our theatre team this summer, specifically in the areas of music and sound/lighting.

The music role is perfect for a pianist with a passion for theatre and music, who is excited to work with young campers and help bring weekly camp plays to life. The ideal candidate will collaborate with the theatre team to provide musical direction, piano accompaniment, and support for our campers' performances.

The sound/lighting technician role is responsible for creating the perfect auditory and visual atmosphere for all performances. They collaborate with the entire theatre team and campers, handling everything from sound cues to lighting designs, all while managing the technical aspects of the camp's theatre productions.

This is also a great opportunity for internship credit, as well as housing and meals included and a travel reimbursement. The dates are June 17th to August 13th. Please let me know if you have anyone in mind for these 2 roles or could pass the message along to your students!

Best,
Emma

New Opportunity

I am delighted to invite your students to participate in The Banners We Wear, the $10,000 prize for Metaverse Fashion Week, 9-12 April 2025

The Banners We Wear

The Banners We Wear challenges students to turn virtual fashion into a powerful statement of identity, resilience, and hope. Participants are invited to create wearable banners — visual declarations of their beliefs, struggles, and aspirations. In a world where personal freedoms are increasingly challenged, virtual worlds offer an important canvas for liberation.

The Banners We Wear is the first award of its kind at Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW). Dedicated to expanding the role of digital fashion in communication and self-expression, the prize is free to enter and open to students and emerging designers. First prize is $10,000 USD, with two runner-up prizes of $2,500. Winning designs will be transformed into virtual "Wearables" and debut on the main MVFW runway.

Deadline: Sunday, March 2, 2025
Submit or find more information here.

Metaverse Fashion Week

Metaverse Fashion Week is an annual event hosted in Decentraland, a decentralized, community-owned, social virtual world. Since its inception, MVFW has been at the forefront of blending fashion, technology, and digital culture, featuring leading global designers, iconic brands, and cutting-edge creators. The 2025 edition, taking place from April 9–12, 2025, embraces the overall theme of “Infinite Identities,” highlighting the power of digital avatars as hyper-personalized canvases for self-expression. Previous MVFW exhibitors include Coach, Adidas and Tommy Hilfiger.

You can find more details and the entry form here. Let me know if I can provide any further information for you or your students!

College Night at The Gamm

 Dear Educators and student leaders,

I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to share an exciting opportunity with you and your students. Join us at The Gamm Theatre for Between Riverside and Crazy by Stephen Adly Guirgis on Thursday, February 20th at 7:00 PM for our College Night!

This is a great chance for students to engage with live theater at a discounted rate, and connect with like-minded individuals. The story follows retired NYPD cop Walter “Pops” Washington. Recently widowed and fighting a lawsuit against his former employer, he’s struggling to keep his rent-controlled digs on Riverside Drive. The police want him to sell out, his son is on parole, he’s been robbed by a close friend, and the church won’t stop knocking at his door!

Enjoy a show, free food and a talk back for just 15 dollars! Students can purchase tickets here: College Night at The Gamm using the discount code College15. Group discounts are also available for students and chaperones wishing to attend together.

For more information, or to inquire about group rates, feel free to email me at autumn@gammtheatre.org, or contact our box office directly.

We’d love for you to join us for this powerful performance and hope to see you there!

Thank you for your time and support.

Warm regards,

Autumn Jefferson (Autumn/They/She)
