Audition Opportunity

New Bedford Festival Theatre announces a call for submissions for the production of NUNSENSE. NON-AEA performers can submit from Tuesday, April 2 through Tuesday, April 16, 2024. In person callbacks will be held April 20, 2024.

Please prepare a short song in the style of the show.
NUNSENSE - Rehearsals will run from July 15 - August 8, Mon-Fri 6-10 pm, Sat 9-5. Performances will run from August 9 - August 18, 2024 at the Steeple Playhouse in New Bedford.
Housing will not be provided for this contract. This is a stipend-paying gig!
Nunsense is an all-female show. NBFT encourages female-presenting performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and ages to attend. Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

A feisty overweight Sophie Tucker-type who can't resist the spotlight.
SISTER MARY HUBERT, MISTRESS OF NOVICES: Female, Mid 30’s-50’s (Range: G3-F5)
The second in command, she is always competing with the Mother Superior.
SISTER ROBERT ANNE: Female, Mid 20’s-30's (Range: G3-D5)
A streetwise character from Brooklyn. A constant source of aggravation for the Mother Superior.
SISTER MARY AMNESIA: Female, Late 20's-30’s (Range: Db4-C6)
This nun lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head. She is very sweet.
SISTER MARY LEO: Female, Early/Mid 20’s-30’s (Range: G#3-G5)
The novice, who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun ballerina.
Nunsense is a hilarious spoof about the misadventures of five nuns trying to manage a fundraiser. Sadly, the rest of the sisterhood died from botulism after eating vichyssoise prepared by Sister Julia Child of God. Thus, the remaining nuns – ballet-loving Sister Leo, street-wise Sister Robert Anne, befuddled Sister Mary Amnesia, the Mother Superior Sister Regina, and mistress of the novices Sister Mary Hubert – stage a talent show in order to raise the money to bury their dearly departed.
