If you are interested in Directing on the Growing Stage next season, please email Nicki (nfrechette@ric.edu) for an application.
Application forms, with your resume, potential show choices, and letter of intent are due back by April 7th!
Please keep in mind that Growing Stage shows should have small casts and the production should not rely on spectacle.
Thank you!
Rebecca Maxfield, artistic director of Head Trick Theatre, will be visiting the next Theatre Organization Meeting (Wednesday, March 22 at 12:00pm).
Head Trick Theatre's website can be found at http://www.headtricktheatre.org/.
Head Trick Theatre is a theatre company begun and operated by Rebecca Maxfield, created with a community-minded mission to amplify the voices of the female-identified.
In addition to exploring different approaches to Shakespeare's canon, Ms. Maxfield has overseen productions such as the Goblin Market (a dramatization of the sensual Christina Rossetti coming-of-age poem), Queen Margaret (Jennifer Dick's play that tracks Margaret through Shakespeare's plays, giving her her own dedicated narrative), and Mrs. Dalloway (adapted from Virginia Woolf's novel -- if you've seen the movie The Hours, then you'll be familiar with the story and themes).
Head Trick has also produced God of Vengeance by Sholem Asch -- this is the play that is the basis for Paula Vogel's Indecent!
Most recently, Head Trick Theatre produced Aristophanes' The Assemblywomen, in response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade and other proposed legislation designed to curb reproductive rights. (This piece was performed in parks, libraries, and other free spaces across Rhode Island last summer.)
Rebecca has been very interested in working with students in our program. In addition to hearing how she has built her own company and continued to work through the pandemic, this visit will be a nice way to introduce her to our community of artists.
Please come and welcome Rebecca to RIC!
