Alumni Project: Disabled Down Center

Hello all -- one of our Musical Theatre alumni, Brennan Srisirikul, has developed an interesting project for artists who are disabled.

Here is the information/email that he sent, and asked us to share, about two upcoming workshops with casting agents:

I created and produced Disabled Down Center, a program that spotlights disabled artist in entertainment.

In June, Aaron Glick (Tony & Olivier Award winning producer), Danielle Pretsfelder Demchick (Owner of DPD Casting) and I produced DISABLED DOWN CENTER presented by Playbill in June. It was absolutely magical, with RIC's own Lila Kane serving as the music director.

As a followup to the annual benefit concert, and as a way to offer continued programming and support for this community, we are building a free virtual arts training program for performers with disabilities and our allies. Inclusion is about everyone, ultimately. All classes for right now will be hold on Zoom.

We are kicking off the training program with two icons on casting.

I would love you to share these opportunities with your RIC students. For each workshop, disabled artists and two non-disabled artists will be chosen to work. For these master classes they can submit to perform -- however, if they are not chosen to perform everyone can simply audit; everyone will receive the Zoom link to audit the class nonetheless.

The October 15 master class will be with Marci Phillips, who is the VP of ABC Primetime Casting.

The November 5 Masterclass  will be with CRuben owner of Tara Rubin Casting. Her office cast Broadway shows like SIXMJ and Phantom of the Opera and so many more.
