GUEST ARTIST DISCUSSION THIS WEDNESDAY 2/13: MICHAEL LIEBHAUZER

In our continuing effort to bring in different practitioners to talk with the RIC students, Michael Liebhauzer, who appeared in "Night Watch" at the Gamm, will come in and talk to students in the Theater Department next Wednesday during free period.  (Some students in the department may have seen him in last year's production of "Incognito" -- a performance that Trinity's Curt Columbus called "Virtuosic!")

He was going to do a series of stage combat workshops for us at RIC, but then was cast in a show in Philadelphia, and now cannot stay in RI past Feb 20. (Boo!)  I've asked him to come in anyway to talk to us about how he is building his stage career as a regional actor. (Yay!)

Michael is not a member of Actor's Equity, but is not necessarily interested in joining at present, as he has been very successful in applying for grants to be able to earn a living and create work. (He most recently was awarded an enormous grant to go to perform for school children in western Kansas.)  He is a writer and musician who is also trained in Commedia and stage combat. He also teaches all over, most notably at the Gamm and at Interlochen Arts Academy in upstate Michigan.

Come talk with him about life after grad school, grant writing, auditioning, approaches to character, etc., etc.  Anything, really. He is a friendly and supersmart person with fun stories to tell!
