CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS
ALEX - (lead role) Must be able to play late teens to early 20s. Any gender. Any ethnicity. Alex is kind of a know-it-all but doesn’t rub it in people’s faces. They know most things but they keep it to themselves. They are a bit shy and have a hard time communicating with people. They are also being raised by a single dad, with whom they are close. Alex is an aspiring investigator and is really interested in true crime documentaries and podcasts. They become involved in the search for their missing classmate, in part, to prove their investigative skills. Alex has also spent years secretly trying to locate their mom, who left the family when Alex was ten years old and has cut Alex out of her life ever since.
CHARLIE - (lead role) Must be able to play late teens to mid-20s. Any gender. Any ethnicity. Charlie is a conspiracy theorist. Charlie mostly believes the government or any system in place is conspiring against its people. They act on their own beliefs of how the world operates. Charlie is always on either conspiracy theory websites or reddit. Charlie is estranged from their family as a result of their obsession with conspiracy theories. They feel more at home with their online community of conspiracy theorists and have become increasingly isolated from their former friends at school (including Alex).
JESSIE - (lead role) Must be able to play late teens to early 20s. Any gender. Any ethnicity. Jessie is constantly on their phone/laptop scrolling through their multiple social media feeds and posting obsessively to try to gain followers. They're always up to date with pop culture and current events in the news. Jessie comes across as self-absorbed and attention-seeking, but they are really just lonely (and a bit insecure). Jessie is the oldest of six children and feels invisible in their family. They help their parents to care for their younger siblings, but feel like their parents don’t pay any attention to them. Jessie is also struggling to make friends at college, as their social media obsession and seemingly self-absorbed behavior can be off-putting.
JESSIE’S MOM - (walk-on role; 1 scene) Must be able to play early to late 40s. Female. Any ethnicity. Jessie’s mom is a mother of six which makes her very stressed. She is always at work and has little time to spend with her family.
SUBMISSION DETAILS: Please send resume, head shot, and an indication of which part you are interested in being considered for. Email materials to rsibielski@ric.edu. We will be casting through October 12, 2023 or until all roles are filled.

Hello all --
Cliff Odle-- actor, director, playwright -- will be joining us for tomorrow's Music Theatre Company meeting.
Cliff is presently in town to direct the Gamm's production of "Topdog/Underdog" by Susan-Lori Parks. ("Topdog/Underdog" concerns Lincoln and Booth, two African-American brothers locked in conflict and navigating their way through racism and poverty, as they deal with their own past. For more information on this play, see this wiki link. You can read an interview with Cliff about the play and this production here.)
Originally from New Jersey, Cliff has taught and performed all over New England and is currently part of the faculty at University of North Carolina School for the Arts. He is in town until next week and has generously agreed to stop by to talk with us about his professional path. (His biography at UNCSA is here.)
He will be at Music Theatre Company meeting at 9am in the BABS/Little Theater space.
ALL THEATRE MAJORS ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND.
If you test positive for Covid this semester, please remember to use the official RIC form to report the case as outlined on the RIC WEBSITE.
All RIC Covid policies can be found here- https://www.ric.edu/department-directory/center-health-and-wellness/health-wellness-during-covid/covid-19
If you're a close contact with someone, please wear a mask for 10 days and test on Day 5 of if you show symptoms.
Thank you.
Hope you all had a fun long weekend!
Just a Reminder to spread the word that Susie Schutt of ThirdPerson Therapy will be holding a Stress Management/Self-Care workshop for the beginning of the semester this Wednesday, September 6 from 12:30-1:30pm in the BABS rehearsal space (formerly the Little Theater).
This workshop is a chance to strategize around this term's potential challenges, decompress, or just share with your peers and colleagues.
Take advantage, if you can, of Susie's ability to be on campus. She creates a very safe and comfortable environment for the students that she meets, and has been a welcome and popular addition to our stage production staff.
No faculty will be present; this is for students only.
You can sign up at this link.
