THE BILLIE ANN BURRILL MOVEMENT & REHEARSAL SPACE (FKA "The Little Theatre")

Over the summer, the Little Theatre underwent a nearly $200,000 renovation.  Funds for the upgrades were provided by the estate of former dance professor Billie Ann Burrill and from RIC's general fund.  The room has been renamed "The Billie Ann Burrill Movement and Rehearsal Space".  This renovation would not have been possible without the support of the dance program and the hard work of Professor Angelica Vessella. A dedication for the new space will be held this fall.

KINDLY READ & FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES FOR THE UPDATED SPACE:

-Absolutely no street shoes are permitted inside the space.

-Please remove your street shoes from outside the room and place them in the cubbies outside the door. As part of your studies, you will need to purchase a pair of black soled sneakers.

-You may bring your coats, bags, and valuables into the space and store them in the cubbies to the right as you enter.

-Absolutely no food and drink (except for water) is permitted in space.

-All black acting cubes, tables, rehearsal items etc… should be stored behind the curtain, against the wall opposite the entrance door.

-The use of spike tape should be minimal and removed at the end of the rehearsal process.

-As the space is climate controlled, please do not open windows or the outside door.

-Tables, chairs, and scenic items may leave marks on the floor. DO NOT DRAG ITEMS ON THE FLOOR AS IT WILL TEAR OR MARK EASILY! Please avoid harming the floor by asking faculty or stage management for help.

-The piano should be stored on the Masonite board provided. Please be cognizant of the fact that the piano wheels may mark the floor if it is moved. THE PIANO WILL TIP OVER IF IT IS NOT STORED ON THE MASONITE, AS THE FLOOR IS SOFT.

The renovation of this space has been planned for years and has taken a considerable amount of time and money to make happen. Please restore the room to the way it was when you entered. This room was made possible through an endowment fund from the RIC Dance Company & RIC’s General Fund. Please treat the room accordingly as it will not be renovated.

THANK YOU!
