PROJECT TITLE: Past Present Future

PROJECT TYPE: short student film

PROJECT SYNOPSIS: As Chester waits to meet Ana for their first date, he imagines different  scenarios for how it will go. He also reflects on his difficult past with Abigail, his ex-girlfriend,  and the mistakes he hopes to avoid this time around.

UNION STATUS: Non-Union

PRODUCTION LOCATIONS: RI College Campus (Providence, RI)

PRODUCERS – Rosalind Sibielski and Neal Mercier (RI College Film Studies Program) DIRECTOR – Jonathan Pineda

COMPENSATION: No pay; IMDb credit

USAGE: non-commercial/non-monetized distribution

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS

CHESTER - (lead role) Male, must be able to play early-20s, any race/ethnicity. Chester is shy  and kind of awkward. He is a hopeless romantic. He spends most of his time reading novels and  secretly aspires to be a writer. Still smarting from his breakup with Abi, Chester is haunted by  regrets and what-ifs. After a chance encounter with Ana leads to the possibility of a new  romance, Chester resolves to do things differently this time around.

ANA - (supporting) Female, must be able to play early-20s, any race/ethnicity. Ana is friendly  and outgoing. She is different from Chester in many ways, but there is a definite spark between  them, and she is interested in him. Ana appears in the film as both herself in real life and  Chester’s imagined version of her in his daydreams of their first date and subsequent  relationship. Because of this, the role requires the ability to portray a range of character types— in one instance bubbly and adoring, in another soft-spoken and apologetic, etc.

ABIGAIL - (supporting) Female, must be able to play early-20s, any race/ethnicity. Abigail is  Chester’s ex-girlfriend. She is a compassionate and decent person in real life, though in Chester’s  daydreams he imagines her in a slightly villainous light tinged by his hurt and confusion over  their breakup. As he comes to understand why their relationship did not work out, his view of her  begins to change, and so too does the way that she appears/behaves in his imagination. Because Abigail only appears in Chester’s flashbacks to their past relationship or as part of his daydreams

in the present moment, this role requires the ability to portray two different versions of the same  character, one selfish and unfeeling and one who genuinely wishes the best for Chester and tries  to end their relationship on good terms.

COLLEGE STUDENT - (cameo) Any gender, early to late 20s, any race/ethnicity. This  character is one of Chester’s classmates. They try to strike up a conversation with Chester while  waiting for class to start, but find it difficult to get Chester to look up from his book.

ABIGAIL’S FRIENDS – (2-3 cameo roles, non-speaking) – Any gender, early to late 20s, any  race/ethnicity. These characters appear in the background of one of the coffee shop scenes as  friends Abigail has come to meet. (Will need to be on set for 1 day of filming TBD.)

EXTRAS – (non-speaking roles) Extras are needed for one scene in a coffee shop (filming on  10/19, 10/26 AND 11/2). Extras are also needed for one scene in a classroom (1 day of filming on 11/8). Finally, extras are need for one scene on the college quad (1 day of filming on 10/12;

rain date on 10/19). All genders, ages, and races/ethnicities are invited to sign up for an extra  role. We are also looking for between 4 and 6 featured extras to appear as happy couples in the  college quad scene.
