Performance Opportunity

The Contemporary Theatre Company has some performance opportunities in their upcoming production of Native Gardens. 

They're looking for a few Latinx actors to play Landscapers (the other major Latinx roles have already been cast). These are non speaking roles, but they are paid! 

This could be a cool opportunity for someone without a lot of acting experience to get onstage! The production runs September 10th-October 3rd!

 Dear Students, 

The college recently announced a modified start to the academic year. Classes will now begin on September 8. This gives us more time to make sure each student is able to comply with the vaccination requirements. 

All RIC students are required to be COVID-19 vaccinated prior to coming to campus. Religious and medical exemptions are available. Students who are not vaccinated and do not have an exemption will received a COVID-19 HOLD” via Health Services and cannot report to campus or class. 

Students also need to upload a copy of a Negative COVID-19 test 72 hours prior to any initial return to campus, regardless of vaccination status. This can be a rapid test, but not a home test. 

To upload your information go to the Medicat portal: https://ric.medicatconnect.com/login.aspx 

If you are having trouble uploading your information, please send that information to Health Services at healthservices@ric.edu. 

Give It Your Best Shot Vaccination Challenge 

Let’s roll up our sleeves and make sure all our students comply with the vaccination requirements. Make sure you and your friends have gotten vaccinated and uploaded your information! 

To make it easier for those students who have not yet been vaccinated or uploaded their information, Health Services will be hosting vaccination clinics on the following days. At the same time, RIC staff will be available on-site to help students upload information into the Medicat system. RIC swag and giveaways will be given to all students who upload their information on-site!

The first rehearsal for the show will be a read through via zoom on Tuesday, August 24th at 7pm. Regular rehearsals will then begin Sunday, August 29th at 7pm and follow our usual Sunday-Thursday 7-10pm schedule until tech weekend. The show's schedule is now all listed in the calendar tab of the callboard.

Happy Retirement, Marcia!

Today is the official last day of work at Rhode Island College for Marcia Zammarelli, our long time Costume Shop Supervisor and Costume Designer. 

Over the course of her 22 year career at RIC, she has mentored 100s of students and designed over 35 shows!! The Rocky Horror Show (2019) was the the last major musical she designed for us. (Thanks, Covid!) Other favorite shows include: Present Laughter (2007), Little Foxes (2001), Leading Ladies (2017), & The Misanthrope (2003). 

Following retirement, Marcia plans to stay active in the Rhode Island theatre community and will be directing 9 to 5: The Musical for the Pawtucket Community Players this fall. 

Marcia - Thank you for everything you've done for our students and our department. Enjoy your retirement!

A word about the THTR 091/Audition/Callback submissions: there is a level of excellence in our program right now that is very exciting -- casting was a challenge., which is good news, of course. We are all so proud of the work that everyone has done over the past year. Your dedication to the craft of performance and acting -- and not to mention to design & technological process and craft -- is obvious. Regardless of what other challenges may present themselves, we are very much looking forward to this coming school year.
