All JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR auditioners should plan on attending the dance audition on Sunday, 18 January at 1:00-2:30 PM in the Melcer Dance Studio.  Please wear dance attire.

 

The following people (listed below) should plan on staying for the Singing Callback from 2:30-5:00 PM in the Melcer Dance Studio.  Select characters in JCS may be played by actors of any gender.  If you are not called for the singing audition—you may still be cast.  Packets of music on which your name is written can be found outside the Music, Theatre, Dance office.

Teaching/Learning Opportunity

 My name is Susan, and I am the owner of Kindermotion and Dance of New England. We provide movement-based enrichment programs—including dance, creative movement, and physical education for young children in schools, child care centers, and community settings across Rhode Island.

I’m reaching out to ask if you might be willing to share an opportunity with students in the Dance and Theater Department who may be interested in gaining hands-on teaching experience while in school or following graduation. We frequently work with students and emerging professionals who are eager to build classroom leadership skills, gain confidence working with young children, and explore how their performance and movement training can translate into educational settings.

Our instructors teach developmentally appropriate classes for children ages 18 months to 8 years using a structured curriculum and receive training, mentorship, and ongoing support. This role is part-time and especially well-suited for students seeking flexible work, practical experience in schools or child care environments, and a chance to apply their creativity in a meaningful way.

If you feel this opportunity may be a good fit for your students, I would be grateful if you would share it with them or direct interested students to reach out. I’d also be happy to provide additional information or connect directly with a faculty member or internship coordinator if helpful.

Growing Stage Audition Reminder and Show Announcement!

 Hello everyone!

This is a reminder that auditions are coming up for the Spring Growing Stage Production!

This semester’s production will be DNA by Dennis Kelly, directed by Mariana Villa Jaramillo. 

When: Sunday, January 18th, 2026

Where: The BABs

Time: 10:00am - 1:00pm

Callbacks will be held on Friday, January 22nd at 4:00pm (also in the BABs).

Again, make sure to fill out this form and sign up for an audition slot. I encourage you to read the script, as it may have some sensitive topics. Here’s a copy of the script (it’s a really quick and good read!)

Please prepare a one minute contemporary monologue from a published play. These should be memorized. If you are struggling to find a monologue, feel free to use some of these monologues from the show!

A reminder that Growing Stage auditions are mandatory for ALL Performance, General, and Musical Theatre Majors!
